OpenTech Systems offers “best practices” tape data migration software that has been trusted by storage vendors and outsource providers for over a decade. Using our Tape/Copy software and the experience gained from working with hundreds of customers around the world, our technicians can migrate tape datasets from any supported tape device (native or virtual) to any other tape device including migrating datasets from low density to higher density tapes or from physical tape to virtual tape libraries (VTL) and VTL-to-VTL migrations. Tape/Copy protects the original metafile data often used for life cycle management including the original creation date, creator, last user, last use date, etc.

OpenTech offers products and services that can help move the IBM z/OS workload component of a data center consolidation/relocation project. Workloads including system software, applications and their associated critical datasets are moved whether they are on DASD, physical tape or virtual tape. Data collection is unobtrusive and does not interfere with production. Non-destructive, repetitive testing can be done to allow for verification of results before switching production from one data center to another. Only data changed between repetitions is collected for the next test. The repetitive testing process allows the user to revert to the original production system in the event of unexpected results thus ensuring uninterrupted production.

OpenTech offers a suite of software products for z/OS which identify, back up and recover disk and tape datasets (even those virtualized) that are required for disaster recovery. Using a sophisticated path analysis technique to analyze job flows and related data, the software can determine which datasets are required for application recovery, replicate them, and can automatically recover to a point-in-time. A GUI running under z/OS uses a standard PC browser to display information such as which required datasets are mirrored and which are not. The software includes simulations to help optimize DR by simulating the results of different DR strategies. Report filtering features quickly locate data required for local recovery or compliance.
