P2P Sync

Automatically Sync your Peer-to-Peer environment

Is your Peer to Peer data completely synchronized? Don't assume that all your virtual data is mirrored. P2P Sync can quickly audit and automatically synchronize the volumes within a Peer-to-Peer environment. Synchronize the tape volumes between Peer VTSs quickly and efficiently without data set copying techniques.

Synchronization without extra overhead on the processor

Using the P2P Sync process will only synchronize as many tape volumes or megabytes of tape data as the user desires to keep from overloading the peer-to-peer controller with excess work while it is performing normal production work.
The IBM VTS Bulk Volume Information Retrieval (BVIR) facility can be used to gather VTS volume information and sort the candidate's recall requests by physical volser and group the back-end volumes together to reduce recall times and minimize the mounting of VTS back-end volumes as virtual volumes are recalled to the tape cache.

ISPF Interface

When using P2P Sync, all volume copies are processed by the Peer-to-Peer controller - not the Host!

Volume selection criteria puts you in control

Through one easy to use panel, the user can create P2P Sync synchronization jobs.

Save resources

The user can control the number of volumes as well as the amount of data synchronized by each P2P Sync job. P2P Sync allows you to exclude volumes that will expire soon.

Comprehensive volume reporting

Comprehensive reports show on how many volumes were synchronized with each P2P Sync job run and how many volumes have yet to be synchronized.
